Fun things to do in Seward, Alaska

People always ask us what else there is to do while they are in Seward. There are so many fun things to do in Seward Alaska, and it is a favorite destination for both tourists and Alaskans alike. Some of the biggest attractions around Seward are as follows:

#1 Kenai Fjords National Park by Water. Thats where we come in, and we would be happy to show you around. Our glacier and wildlife excursions travel deep into Kenai Fjords National Park, through majestic fjords right up to the face of a calving tidewater glacier. Let us take you on a trip through Kenai Fjords National Park that you will never forget.

#2 Kenai Fjords National Park by land. The Exit Glacier area is the only part of the park accessible by car. The National Park sevice has a visitor center at Exit Glacier and a network of walking and hiking trails provide views and access to Exit Glacier and the Harding Icefield.

#3 Alaska Sea Life Center. This is a must do stop for anyone visiting seward. Many Alaska Locals even purchase memberships so they can go on a regular basis. The Sea Life Center is a relatively small aqaurium, but plays a much larger role in research, protection, education, and rehabilitation of marine animals. Visiting the aqaurium helps to support the great work they do behind the scenes.

#4 Seward Waterfront walking path. If you haven’t taken a stroll along the 1 mile paved waterfront trail then you haven’t been to Seward. Enjoy stunning views of Resurrection Bay on one side and Beautiful Mount Marathon on the other. Remnants of the old railroad docks can be seen sticking out along the shoreline, and serve as a monument to the good friday earthquake of 1964 and resulting tsunami

#5 Outdoot Activities. Seward is awesome for outdoor recreation and there are tons of fun things to do outside in the Summer. Hiking, ice climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), dog sledding, zip-lining, and even surfing!

#6 Fishing. Seward is well known as a destination for world class fishing in the summer. Halibut, Salmon, Ling Cod, and Rockfish like Yellow Eye are what you typically see at the fillet tables at the end of the day. Even if you don’t take a fishing charter you can still watch as the bigger fish are weighed in at the scales right by where we meet for our tours.

Below is a list of just a few of the best things to do in Seward Alaska. For a more comprehensive list visit the Seward chamber of commerce and visitors center.
