The drive to Seward from Anchorage is about 126 miles, that’s from Ted Stephens international Airport to the Seward Small Boat Harbor. Average summer driving time is about 2.5 hours, but it is always a good idea to leave yourself about 3 hours. You may just want some extra time for sightseeing and stopping as this is a very beautiful and scenic drive. Possible delays from summer road construction are something to be aware of. you can check 511.alaska.gov for major delays. *Make sure not to pass Girdwood without fueling up or getting snacks as that will be the last services until you reach Seward. ~ Drive safe!
From Ted Stevens International Airport
- Head west on W International Airport Rd – 0.2 mi
- Turn left – 0.5 mi
- Slight left onto W International Airport Rd – 0.2 mi
- Continue straight to stay on W International Airport Rd – 1.8 mi
- Turn right onto the Minnesota Dr S ramp to Seward Hwy – 0.3 mi
- Merge onto Minnesota Dr/Walter J. Hickel Pkwy (Continue to follow Walter J. Hickel Pkwy) – 4.7 mi
- Turn right onto the New Seward Highway ramp – 0.2 mi
- Merge onto AK-1 S/I-A-3 S
- Continue straight onto AK-1 N/I-A-3 N/State Hwy 9 (Continue to follow State Hwy 9)
- Continue on to Seward, AK
